Blair County Victim Witness Director

Oversees the Victim-Witness Department within District Attorney’s Office charged with advising crime victims and witnesses of their rights, protection, services, and compensation provided through the criminal justice system, and state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Holds bachelor degree or higher in criminal justice, human services, or social services; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job
  • Minimum of three years’ previous experience and training that includes social work, crisis intervention counseling, or related criminal justice work
  • Supervisory skills sufficient to oversee functional unit
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Courteous, customer-focused, patient, and professional demeanor
  • Proficiency with database, Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing applications
  • Possesses at hire or successfully completes within one year of placement into position:
    • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
    • Crisis intervention certification
    • Death notification certification
    • Dependable Access for Victims’ Expenses (DAVE) training
    • Sexual assault and domestic violence 101 training and certification
    • Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) training
    • Support group facilitator certification
    • Victims Foundational Academy certification
  • Demonstrated experience setting schedules, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated experience recognizing and maintaining confidentiality
  • Minimum of 35 hours per week, which includes but is not limited to regular, consistent presence at District Attorney’s Office, court, and weekly travel to preliminary hearings held at magisterial district justice offices every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
