Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Supervisor – General Trial Unit
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant District Attorney who supervises the General Trial Unit will be responsible for overseeing prosecution of all general trial cases. It should be noted that many of the cases in the unit are assigned to the newest members of the office. In light of that, the supervisor of this unit must take extra care to ensure staff are complying with the unit and office protocols. The Supervisor will also be responsible for creating and implementing a hands-on training program aimed at further developing trial advocacy skills for those completing the initial introductory 6 months training program. The Supervisor will also maintain an active caseload including homicides and complex, violent felonies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise General Trial Unit personnel and oversees cases to include tactical advice, plea negotiation advice and plea approvals.
- Create and implement a hands-on training program aimed at further developing trial advocacy skills for those completing the initial introductory six months’ training program.
- Responsible for personal caseload including homicide and complex, violent felonies.
- Provide local trainings for municipal and PSP law enforcement agencies on legal updates. Recommend appropriate procedures for the District Attorney’s consideration for local implementation.
- Become certified to teach annual trainings to officers for Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission.
- Actively assist the Chief of Appeals and Legal Services with the management and oversight of the office Intern Program.
Starting Compensation:
$80,772.90/Annually
