Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Supervisor – Juvenile Unit
The Assistant District Attorney who supervises the Juvenile Unit is responsible for overseeing the prosecution of all juvenile cases include case assignments and active monitoring and supervision of all cases in the unit and all unit members. They report directly to the First Assistant District Attorney concerning unit case status and unique unit issues. This supervisor is responsible for partial training of the newest prosecutors in the office and thus provides a critical supervisory role and this position requires specialized expertise in their field of practice.
They are responsible for a personal caseload including: juvenile cases certified for adult prosecution as assigned, investigation review/consultation; victim interviews, preliminary hearings, detention/bail hearings, pretrial matters, plea negotiations, trials, and post-trial and appellate matters. Duties also include assisting in training and coordination of Youth Aid Panels, developing and recommending appropriate procedures for the District Attorney’s consideration for local implementation, providing outreach and educational sessions to all schools districts in the county with the aim of coordinating prevention efforts in the areas of crime and juvenile issues such as sexting, bullying, drugs and abuse.
