PDAA Issues Statement on Resignation of Chad Salsman

May 7, 2021

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) President and Snyder County District Attorney Mike Piecuch released the following statement today after the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced that Chad Salsman has pled guilty to charges of intimidation, promoting prostitution, and obstruction of justice and resigned as the Bradford County District Attorney.

“Salsman’s criminal activity is beyond troubling.  It represents a betrayal of vulnerable victims.  In addition to the victims, the people of Bradford County have been betrayed by someone who was supposed to protect them.  Our hearts are heavy for all those affected, and we share the anger and outrage over this violation of the public’s trust.

As the chief law enforcement officers in our communities, we take the oath of office and the responsibility to uphold the law very seriously. Conducting ourselves with integrity is at the heart of everything we do. When someone fails in that duty, they fail us all.

We will not let one person’s bad acts diminish the great work of the other hardworking men and women in prosecutor offices throughout the commonwealth. As an Association, we stand ready to assist the new leadership in the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office.  They have important work to do, and their communities need their dedication and ethical work.
