PDAA Supports Victims of Crime with Marsy’s Law Amicus Brief

March 2, 2021

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association filed an amicus brief in support of crime victims and Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment that elevates the rights of crime victims.

In January 2021, Commonwealth Court issued an opinion invalidating Marsy’s Law, saying it violated the single-subject requirement under Article XI, Section I, of the Pennsylvania Constitution. In the amicus brief, the district attorneys argued that the proposed amendment will not affect any rights currently held by the criminally accused, and therefore, does not violate the single-subject requirement.
