PENNSYLVANIA DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) today announced its newly elected officers for the 2009-2010 business year. The election took place during the PDAA winter meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, February 3-6, 2009.

The new officers are:

President: Hon. Bradley H. Foulk, Erie County District Attorney

Vice President: Hon. Edward M. Marsico, Jr., Dauphin County District Attorney

Secretary-Treasurer: Hon. Francis J. Schultz, Crawford County District Attorney

“Pennsylvania’s District Attorneys have a long tradition of advocacy on behalf of law enforcement, as well as crime victims and their families,” said Foulk. “It’s an honor to serve as president of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, and I look forward to being active and engaged on the issues so important to upholding the integrity of our criminal justice system and the prosecutors who serve it.”

Foulk has over 20 years experience as a prosecutor. He was first elected Erie County District attorney in 2000. Prior to that, he served as senior deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania (1995-97 and assistant district attorney for Erie County (1988-95).

In recent years, the PDAA successfully led efforts to: reform Pennsylvania’s prison system; create a stronger Megan’s Law which will better ensure child predators are kept away from our children; pass DUI legislation which closed loopholes to ensure drunk drivers are held accountable; and enact a series of laws to better protect women and children with updates in the areas of Internet predators, child abduction, and protection from abuse and firearm laws.

The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association is comprised of approximately 1,000 members and is charged with providing uniformity and efficiency in the discharge of duties and functions of Pennsylvania’s 67 District Attorneys and their assistants. Since its founding in 1912, the Association has dutifully sponsored extensive training programs and reported legal and legislative developments of importance to Pennsylvania prosecutors. In addition, the Association is often called upon by legislative leaders at the state and national level to address public policy issues and efforts which will impact the prosecution of criminal cases, victim rights and public safety.
