PHILADELPHIA DISTRICT ATTORNEY SETH WILLIAMS APPOINTED LEGISLATIVE CHAIR
Harrisburg, PA – Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) President Edward M. Marsico, Jr. today appointed Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams PDAA’s new legislative chair and a member of the executive committee.
“The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association has always played an active role in legislative debate on law enforcement and criminal justice issues,” said Marsico. “PDAA’s executive board welcomes District Attorney Williams to the association and is grateful for his willingness to take on such an important, active role in shaping legislation as it develops under the capital’s dome.”
Williams was sworn-in as Philadelphia’s new district attorney on Monday, January 4. Under PDAA’s by-laws, the chairperson of the legislative committee is also seated on the executive committee.
“I am grateful to District Attorney Marsico for appointing me legislative chair. In this capacity, I intend to advocate with my fellow district attorneys for laws that will make all Pennsylvanians safer.” Williams said. He added, “Prosecutors bring an important first-hand perspective to public safety issues, and I look forward to working with my colleagues across the state to make sure that our legislators understand our legislative priorities and positions on legislation.”

The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association is comprised of approximately 1,000 members and is charged with providing uniformity and efficiency in the discharge of duties and functions of Pennsylvania’s 67 District Attorneys and their assistants. Since its founding in 1912, the Association has dutifully sponsored extensive training programs and reported legal and legislative developments of importance to Pennsylvania prosecutors. In addition, the Association is often called upon by legislative leaders at the state and national level to address public policy issues and efforts which will impact the prosecution of criminal cases, victim rights and public safety.
