Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute Elects New Members to Board of Directors

March 1, 2010

Harrisburg, PA -The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute (PDAI) announced today that five district attorneys were elected to serve as members of the board of directors of the educational and training arm of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association. The members are:

• Hon. David W. Heckler, Bucks County District Attorney
• Hon. Andrew J. Jarbola, Lackawanna County District Attorney
• Hon. Eric Linhardt, Lycoming County District Attorney
• Hon. Raymond J. Tonkin, Pike County District Attorney
• Hon. R. Seth Williams, Philadelphia County District Attorney

“The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute provides prosecutors and other members of law enforcement with high-level professional training to ensure integrity in the work we do and truth in the justice we seek,” said PDAI President and Lehigh County District Attorney James B Martin. “As president of PDAI, I look forward to working with these new members of our board to provide the kind of education and training programs that will help district attorneys all over our commonwealth perform their duties to the best of their abilities on behalf of the citizens we serve.”

In addition to training, the PDAI is currently working with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to implement a statewide automated victim notification service. Known as PA SAVIN, the enhancement to local victim services will help empower crime victims and interested citizens with the ability to receive an around-the-clock, automated phone call notifying them of a release, transfer or escape.

PDAI, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the education and training affiliate of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association based in Harrisburg, PA. Since its inception, the Institute has trained over 2,000 assistant district attorneys in its basic prosecutors’ course and held a district attorney seminar for newly elected and appointed DAs every other year. The Institute also conducts training courses for law enforcement officers and victim service professionals.
