Bucks County Assistant District Attorney
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and skilled Assistant District Attorney (ADA) to join our team in serving the people of Bucks County. As an ADA, you will play a critical role in prosecuting criminal cases, advocating for justice, and ensuring the fair application of the law. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including conducting legal research, preparing and presenting cases in court, negotiating plea deals, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, a strong understanding of criminal law, and the ability to handle a diverse caseload with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prosecute criminal cases from start to finish, including pre-trial motions, trials, and post-conviction matters.
- Draft and file legal documents, such as motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Advise law enforcement agencies on legal issues and assist in case preparation.
- Represent the Commonwealth in court hearings, including arraignments, pre-trial conferences, and trials.
- Collaborate with victims, witnesses, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective presentation of cases.
- Negotiate plea agreements and work towards appropriate sentencing outcomes.
- Maintain thorough case files and provide accurate updates to supervisors and colleagues.
- Participate in legal training, continuing education, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania (or ability to be admitted within a reasonable timeframe).
- Strong background in criminal law and legal procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to public service and the pursuit of justice.
