Schuylkill County Assistant District Attorney-Part Time

STATUS: Part Time
COMPENSATION: $37,558 /year
BENEFITS: Health, Dental, Vision Insurance. County Pension.

SYNOPSIS OF DUTIES

1. Litigate preliminary hearings at the magisterial district court level
2. Litigate jury trials and bench trials at the common pleas court level.
3. Attend and present oral arguments at trials, motions court, pretrial conferences, sentencings, post sentencing hearings and restitution hearings.
4. Negotiate plea agreements with defense counsel and pro se
5. Write answers to motions filed by criminal defendants/defense counsel.
6. Write briefs for cases before the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas, and occasionally the Pennsylvania Superior Court and Pennsylvania Supreme Court
7. Coordinate with victim advocates and victim service providers to protect the rights of crime victims.
8. Meet with police about suspected criminal activity and provide advice about filing criminal charges.
