Lycoming County District Attorney Elected to PDAA Executive Committee

Harrisburg, PA –The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) announced today that Lycoming County District Attorney Eric Linhardt was elected to its executive committee. His nomination was approved unanimously during the PDAA executive committee’s summer meeting.  Since 2010, Linhardt has served on the Board of Directors of the association’s education and training arm, the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute.

“The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association has earned a well-deserved reputation for protecting fairness and integrity in the criminal justice system,” said PDAA President and Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman. “We welcome District Attorney Linhardt to the executive committee and look forward to his input and leadership as we work to make Pennsylvania’s criminal justice system the best it can be.”

Throughout its history, PDAA has been well known for its leadership in matters of public safety.  Most recently the association successfully led efforts to: reform Pennsylvania’s child protection laws; establish historic, first-time state funding for Children’s Advocacy Centers; create a statewide prescription drug return and disposal program to help fight back against prescription drug abuse; and administer the distribution of life-saving naloxone to municipal police departments.

Linhardt was first elected District Attorney in 2007, and has been a practicing attorney for 25 years.  As District Attorney, Eric is responsible for a 1.9 million dollar budget and 33 full- and part-time employees.  In addition to operating and managing the District Attorney’s Office, Linhardt is also responsible for operating the Narcotics Enforcement Unit, as well as the Central Processing Center and DUI Center. He is a board member of the Lycoming Health Improvement Coalition, the Lycoming County Criminal Justice Advisory Board, Chairman of the Heroin Task Force’s Criminal Justice Sub-Committee, and Secretary of the Lycoming County Prison Board.

About the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association: PDAA is comprised of approximately 1,000 members and is charged with providing uniformity and efficiency in the discharge of duties and functions of Pennsylvania’s 67 district attorneys and their assistants.  Since it was founded in 1912, the association has dutifully sponsored extensive training programs and reported legal and legislative developments of importance to Pennsylvania prosecutors.  In addition, the association is often called upon by legislative leaders, at the state and national level, to address public policy issues and efforts, which impact the prosecution of criminal cases, victim rights and public safety.
