PDAA remembers former Cumberland County District Attorney Skip Ebert
The Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) today issued the following statement on the passing of former Cumberland County District Attorney Merle L. “Skip” Ebert Jr., who served two tenures as district attorney and 12 years as a county judge. Ebert also served as PDAA President in 2005.
“PDAA offers its condolences to the family of former Cumberland County District Attorney Skip Ebert, who died on Monday. A dedicated public servant, Skip served the people of Cumberland County for 40 years in the criminal justice system before retiring as district attorney in 2021.”
“Skip was known for his innovation in fighting for justice, being among the first to use an investigative grand jury at the county level. Skip was a tireless advocate for crime victims and witness support services. He also launched the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) program, which allows certain offenders to have their charges dropped if they complete counseling or treatment programs.
Skip will be remembered as a leader who served his community well and influenced generations of county prosecutors.”
